The organization that Jenny works for, Dream a Dream, organizes what they call "Fundays" on a weekly basis. These Fundays are intended to get the kids out of their usual environment and give them an experience that they wouldn't otherwise have access to, such as plays, museums, trips to parks and zoos and other fun day trips. This past Saturday they were going to the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum and we decided to head along with. We wanted to help out with the kids but we also wanted to check out the museum!!
It turned out to be an amazing day. The kids were just fantastic and so interested in everything. They came from a school in Bangalore called The Excellent English School and their English was great. We went to pick them up at their school and load them onto the bus and they were so excited to be getting out of school for the day! They were so interested in asking us questions as well, where we're from, how old we were, what's our favorite food, movie, music etc. etc. etc. , they asked us every possible question under the sun!! We each had 6 kids in our group and we were responsible to make sure we always knew where those kids were as it was a pretty big group - 57 kids! The museum was really interesting and the kids were just loving it! Too bad we only had an hour and a half to spend in the museum but the kids enjoyed every minute of it and were so curious, asking a million questions that sometimes we didn't have answers for!!
After the museum we were heading to Cubbon Park where we would have a picnic lunch and the kids could just relax, play games, sing songs and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. We got lots of group pictures and the kids loved singing the Hokey Pokey and other songs. We headed back to the bus at about 3 pm for the ride back to the school. The kids sang songs for us in Hindi, English and many other languages - what fun that was! Once we got back to the school, the kids made us promise that we would come back, someday, to spend some more time with them - we said we would try our hardest! It was a great day with a great group of kids and we are both looking forward to the next Funday!!

L'organisation pour laquelle Jenny travaille, Dream a Dream, organise ce qu'ils appellent des "Fundays" toutes les semaines. Ces journées ont pour objectif de sortir les enfants de leur environnement usuel pour ainsi leur donner une expérience qu'ils ne pourraient avoir autrement. Les activités sont très variées : pièces de théâtre, musées, sorties dans des parcs et zoos, et autres sorties en plein air. Ce samedi-là, ils se rendaient au Musée Industriel et Technologique Visvsvaraya et on a décidé tous les deux de se joindre au groupe. On voulait aider pour les enfants mais aussi pour visiter le musée !
C'était une journée superbe. Les enfants étaient tout simplement fantastiques et tellement intéressés par tout. Ils viennent d'une école de Bangalore appelée Excellent English School et leur anglais était très bon. On est allé les chercher à leur école pour ensuite les diriger vers le bus et ils étaient tellement excité à l'idée de sortir de l'école pour la journée ! Ils étaient vraiment intéressés par nous aussi: d'où on vient, quel age on a, quelle est notre plat indien préféré, film, musique, etc. etc. etc. toutes sortes de questions ! On avait chacun 6 enfants dans notre groupe et on était responsable de s'assurer de savoir où chacun d'entre eux était à tout instant, étant donné que c'était un groupe assez conséquent - 57 gamins ! Le musée était très intéressant et les enfants l'ont adoré. Dommage qu'on avait qu'une heure et demie à l'intérieur ils ont su profité de chaque minute et ils était vraiment curieux, en posant des millions de questions dont parfois on avait pas les réponses !!
Après le musée, on est allé en direction de Cubbon Park pour un pique-nique et pour que les enfants puissent se relaxer, jouer, chanter et profiter du reste de l'après-midi. On a pris beaucoup de photos de groupes et les enfants adoraient chanter le Hokey Pokey et toute sorte de chansons. On est retourné vers le bus aux alentours de 15h pour retourner à l'école. Les gamins nous ont chanté des chansons en Hindi, en Anglais et en plusieurs autres langues - très sympa ! Une fois arrivée à l'école, certains nous ont demandé de promettre qu'on allait revenir un jour pour passer plus de temps avec eux - on a répondu qu'on ferait de notre mieux ! C'était une super journée avec un super groupe de gamins et on est impatient de renouveler cette expérience !!
